(Normally I don't post many things about my home life here, but my grandma deserves to be remembered.)

My grandma died today. But in honest she was more than a grandma to me, way more. After my parents divorce my mother worked a lot and I saw my dad maybe once a month, he also had to work, he's currently living below poverty line. So when I got accepted into Junior Beta, when I had soccer practice, when I needed to buy get something for school, in the end it wasn't either of parents who took me but my grandma.

My grandma has lived with us forever, it seems like. She's been a constant through teenage emotion turmoils, she's cooked for us, laughed with us, forced us into to labor, and on reflection, it seems like she raised me.

It's been surreal for my whole family because my grandma is tough as nails- she's survived 2 types of cancer, many illness and over-come death on more occasions that I can count.

Grandma, Sue, or Nana, as she was known, was a do-er. When she saw something that upset her, she took action, anywhere from blowing a whistle to help an old lady to writing some strongly worded letters.

Above all she treasured plants and butterflies. She grew many things, having the most natural green-thumb in the world. She knew how to sew, though rarely used that skill, and never got a chance to teach me.

She was beautiful, strong, and courageous, and end the end she was much like the butterflies she so adored. Graceful, beautiful, and with a life entirely too short.

Rest in peace grandma, I love you.
